Moreland Hall is a leading alcohol and other drugs (AOD) agency with 40 years experience in the not for profit sector in Victoria.

We currently have a maternity leave vacancy for 3 days per week until May 2011.

This is a dual purpose position covering both the forensic and supported accommodation programs. You will provide outreach, counselling and case management support to clients who live in our supported accommodation properties as well as providing forensic counseling services to mandated clients referred through the Community Offender and Treatment Services and Drug Diversion programs.

To be successful in the role you will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or Allied Health Sciences, have 4 key competencies in AOD, qualifications in dual diagnosis or willingness to undertake, a current Victorian drivers license, and experience working in the AOD sector.

The Western Region Alcohol and Drug Centre have a vacancy for a Alcohol and Drug Clinician to work as apart of a multi-disciplinary team providing a broad range of services for people throughout the South West.

The Counsellor will work with a range of clients who are at risk due to their alcohol and drug use

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To offer counselling to individuals who are concerned about a drug problem
To liaise with local health and welfare networks
· To provide assessment and reports
· To work as part of a multi disciplinary team.
· To develop quality counselling standards
· To record client data on WRAD information system.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

A relevant tertiary qualifications is desired.

A minimum Certificate IV Community Service (Alcohol & other Drugs) or equivalent is necessary. If you do not have Certificate IV Alcohol and Drugs training can be arranged as part of employment conditions.

The Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) is a leading non government, not for profit organisation working to reduce alcohol and other drug related harm in Australia. We have a number of successful services and programs including the DrugInfo Clearing House, Good Sports and Community Health Action Network (CAAN).

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to join our Sector Development Unit as a Senior Research Officer.

Reporting to the Sector Development Manager, the role is responsible for conducting research and evaluation, managing and implementing research and pilot projects, and contributing to building the evidence-base of the Foundation.

The successful candidate will have a Masters Degree in the Health/Social Sciences, a minimum of five years research experience, a demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice in health promotion and harm reduction, and an understanding of alcohol and other drug issues. ANDAS Comorbidity Project Officer

The SA Network of Drug and Alcohol Services (SANDAS) Comorbidity Project has recently been refunded by the Commonwealth Dept of Health and Ageing (DoHA) until May 2011. This extends the timeframe of the SA component of the nationwide co morbidity capacity building initiative in the AOD NGO sector and allows SANDAS to further support the development of services for our member organizations in line with the project objectives.

SANDAS seeks to employ a Project Officer to assist the Comorbidity Coordinator in meeting the agreed objectives of the project and the requirements under the approved project plan and service agreement.

The position requires a suitably qualified person with significant experience in the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector, the Mental Health sector, in project management or other relevant experience. The position is offered at a SACS Level 7 salary rate on a full-time basis for an initial period of at least 12 months which includes a 3 month probationary period. SANDAS has some flexibility to negotiate with the right person the range of hours and some other terms and conditions.

The Clinical Trials Research Unit is located within the School of Population Health at The University of Auckland Tamaki campus, Auckland, New Zealand. The Unit is focussed on innovative research aiming to reduce the major risks to health.

An opportunity is available for a Research Fellow to work in the Addictions Research Programme at the Clinical Trials Research Unit. The Addictions Programme is an energetic group of six staff working on research in the fields of tobacco, alcohol and other drug dependency.

The successful candidate will need to have a Masters degree or higher in public health, psychology, medicine or a related field. Ideally you will have a developing track record of initiating and delivering addiction-related research as evidenced by funding awards and publications.

The role involves working closely with the Programme Leader to develop and design new ideas, obtain funding, assist with research currently underway as well as set up and work on new research. You will need to be creative, innovative and a high achiever who is enthusiastic, an excellent communicator and someone who likes to work in a team environment.

The position is full time for two years. Depending on qualifications there is also an opportunity to study for a higher degree. The applicant must be personally committed to smoke-free and to a healthy lifestyle.

The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counselling team is a newly created team within the Clinical Services Branch, Organisational Wellbeing Division of Victoria Police aimed at providing an internal counselling option for Victoria Police employees seeking AOD support and counselling. The 2 counsellors within this team will work closely and collaboratively with Work Health Research and Development Branch and the Clinical Services team to ensure a respectful, responsive and appropriate AOD counselling service to all employees of Victoria Police within the requirements of the relevant polices and procedures.

Position Accountabilities
Strategically manage, direct and lead the functions and resources of Alcohol and Other Drugs program, Clinical Services Branch, to ensure effective provision of services and the effective administration of alcohol and other drug contract services.

Provide high level consultancy services and authoritative advice, support and information to senior management on clinical, staff welfare, alcohol and other drug related issues.

Develop and support members of the Clinical Services Branch in a manner that maximises the potential of the team and enables quality alcohol and other drug services.

Contribute to the planning, development and delivery of training and education programs for employees of Victoria Police on alcohol and other drug related issues.

Establish and cultivate professional and pro-active collaborative partnerships and effective communication networks with Victoria Police personnel, relevant external organisations and stakeholders to ensure co-ordination, standardisation and best practice in service delivery.

Develop and maintain processes for the collection and reporting of data for the Alcohol and Other Drug Counselling Program, prepare relevant comprehensive briefings, correspondence and reports in respect to the alcohol and other drug counselling team’s activities and exercise delegations on behalf of the Chief Commissioner.

Initiate Research and analysis in relation to issues relevant to the Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselling Program and contribute to appropriate research initiatives within Victoria Police and the wider policing community in relation to alcohol and other drugs.

Ensure the maintenance and monitoring of data and records in accordance with organisational policy and legislative requirements.
